The name of our museum was inscribed by Mr. Gu Yu-xiu, the former president of National Central University when he was 99 years old. And the whole museum is comprised of seven aspects, such as the hall exhibiting the one hundred history of Nanjing University, Nanjing University after 1978 and the prominent graduates from the university, etc.

The Hall of Preface

When you enter the museum, you will see the blueprint of Gulou and Xianlin campus. On the frontispiece wall, you can see our school spirit, sincerity, simplicity, great and grandness. And when you go upstairs, you will see the school gates, campus scenery and the group photos of graduates in different periods of time. We call it “Times of Tunnel”.

Today's Nanjing University is formed mainly on the basis of the merging of the arts and sciences schools of National Nanjing University and the University of Nanking (a well-known university founded in 1888) during the nationwide institutional and departmental restructuring in 1952.
