Tong Xing


Tong Xing, born in 1948, is currently a Professor in the School of Government and Director of the Research Center for Social Risk and Crisis Management. His research interests cover sociology theories, social problem and social development, social policy, as well as social risk and emergency management. He published more than 10 books and more than 400 articles in last 34 years. He is the member of Evaluation Committee of National Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, Chinese Sociological Association, Board of Experts of National Committee on Disaster Reduction and Relief. He is the Vice President of China Association of Social Security (2015- ). He is invited as Adjunct Professor in the following universities: Central University of Finance and Economics, Capital Normal University, Jiangnan University, Jiangsu University, Yangzhou University, Zhejiang Normal University, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, Wenzhou University. He received Special Governmental Subsidy of the State Council in1992.

  

In last 8 years he hosted two important Projects of the National Social Science Foundation of China. One is “Reconstructing warning system of social risk and emergency management system in China”; the other is “Innovation on Chinese social management system.” In 2015, he won the first award in the monograph category at the Ministry of Education’s Seventh Award for Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements of Higher Education Institutions (The Humanities and Social Sciences). His book: “Chinese emergency management: theory, practice and policy” was selected in National Achievements Library of Philosophy and Social Sciences of 2011, Social Sciences Academic Press (China), 2012. Also this book was selected in Translation Project of the Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences(2015).
