Zhang Yongtao
Zhang Yongtao graduated from Fudan University and started his teaching career at Nanjing University in 1965. He was promoted to be full professor in 1987, received special government allowances of the State Council in 1992, and was selected as the first level perspective professors for the “333 project” of Jiangsu province in 1997.
He published 20 monographs and textbooks, over 100 articles, and carried out 20 both national and provincial level research projects in the fields of political economy, political theory and Chinese government and politics. The book Public Administration (1988), Contemporary China’s Political System (1990), and The Introduction of Politics (2011) established the basic research framework of China’s Political Institution and Public Administration.
He served as the Dean of the School of Laws and Politics (1988-1993) and School of Public Administration (1998-2004), which were the predecessors of the School of Governance at Nanjing University, and the Vice President of Nanjing University (1993-1997). In research circles , he worked as the vice-president of National Academy of Chinese Politics, the Chairman of National Direct Committee for Political Science Teaching, the committee member of National Direct Committee of MPA Education; and the President of Political Science Association in Jiangsu.
In 2004, he was appointed as the Chief Expert for the first “Central Marxist Theoretical Research and Construction Project.” In view of the contribution in reconstruction and development of political science, scientific research and students’ cultivation, he was rated as the “Senior Professor in the Humanities and Social Sciences at Nanjing University” in 2015.
