He Chengzhou
He Chengzhou, Ph.D. of Oslo University, is Professor of English and Drama at Nanjing University and Distinguished Professor of “Cheung Kung Scholars Program,” and Foreign Member of Academia Europaea (the Academy of Europe). He has been teaching several courses at School of Foreign Studies, such as “Drama/Theatre Studies,” “Representation of the Other,” and “From Literature to Film”. His research areas include: modern drama, comparative literature, and literary criticism. He won the Ibsen Prize in 2002. His academic titles include: former President of the International Ibsen Committee, and Chairman of Jiangsu Comparative Literature Association. He is Director of Chinese-Nordic Cultural Center and Chinese Director of the Nanjing-Brown Joint Program in Gender Studies and Humanities. Since 2013, he has been Chinese Co-Director of the Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies.
He has published two monographs and over ten edited books in English and Chinese, such as Henrik Ibsen and Modern Chinese Drama (Oslo, 2004; Persian translation, 2016), Representation of the Other (Goettingen University Press, 2009) and Performativity in Literature (Stockholm, 2016). In addition to numerous Chinese articles in such leading academic journals as Waiguo Wenxue Pinglun (Foreign Literature Review) and Dangdai Waiguo Wenxue (Contemporary Foreign Literature), he has published some 20 English articles in international academic journals, including Comparative Drama, Comparative Literature Studies, European Review, Differences: A Journal of Feminist Studies, Gender, Place and Culture, Ibsen Studies, ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment, Modern Fiction Studies, Modern Language Quarterly, Neoheliconand Perspectives: Studies on Translatology.
