A gala evening of the First Ethnic Cultural Festival of Nanjing University came off on Xianlin Campus November 13. University and School leaders and representatives together with nearly a thousand teachers and students enjoyed the gala, marking the end of the month-long festival.

The cultural festival, with “Adding Love in One Heart” as its theme, organized many rich and colorful ethnic cultural activities so as to cultivate the national and ethnic spirit, boost the students’ cultural confidence, promote unity among all ethnic groups and make a concerted effort to achieve prosperity and development for all.
Over the past month or so, teachers and students of all nationalities took part in various activities.
On the Nation Day, students of different ethnic groups celebrated the birthday of the motherland by making videos in different ethnic languages. The ethnic minority students from Xinjiang visited Yuhuatai Martyrs Cemetery in honor of the national heroes.
The online knowledge contest during the National Culture Carnival exposed students to splendid traditional ethnic cultures.

History Professor Liu Yingsheng and Temur, an ethnic Mongolian teacher, gave lectures to students, on ethnic cultures themed “Reading extensively but selecting reductively.”
In the gathering titlted “What Young NJUers Tell us,” representatives of ethnic minority students stepped onto the podium to tell their inspiring stories.

In “Coloring NJU,” students drew colored pictures on stone balls to show the charms of ethnic cultures.
In “Love from afar,” students wrote letters to 131 ethnic minority students in Yunan Province to give them their passion and encouragement.
In the Garden Party of “Magic Folks,” students were impressed with the customs and traditions of different ethnic groups.
