Su Xinning

Su Xinning studied computing mathematics at Mathematics Department of Nanjing University from 1978 to 1982.

From 1982 to 1992, he worked in library automation at the library of Nanjing University. Meanwhile he obtained a master's degree in information science at Wuhan University.

He has been engaged in teaching and research in the School of Information Management of Nanjing University since 1992. Courses that he teaches include information communication technology, computer practical technology, Internet practical technology, bibliometrics and scientific evaluation and information processing technology. His research fields cover information intelligent processing, retrieval and information analysis as well as scientific evaluation.

Su Xinning has published more than 200 papers in academic journals at home and abroad and more than 20 books, completed more than 40 science research projects, won more than 10 scientific research awards, close to 10 results submitted to the government, and got the leadership’s instructions for sure. He created the first social science citation index in China, Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI).

Su Xinning is also an editorial committee member of many journals, including Journal of the China Society for Scientific and Technical Information, Journal of Data and Information Science, New Technology of Library and Information Service, etc. He is also the vice-president of Jiangsu Information Society and Jiangsu Science and Technology Journals Society.
