Ding Boquan


Ding Boquan (born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, June 1947) is now entitled Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. After finishing his study for a BSc in Chinese Language and Literature, Ding graduated from Nanjing University in January 1982. He took a post as Dean of the School of Journalism & Communication, Nanjing University, between November 1992 and April 2003. In 1993, he was promoted to Professor and also, from then on, began to receive special government allowances by the State Council. Ding is one of the chief experts of the research group “Marxist Theory Studies and Construction Project,” especially in the writing of News Reporting and Writing, one of the Key Teaching Materials of the Ministry of Education. In addition to this he is also the evaluation expert of Social Science in China Press, and Part-time Professor of another seven universities like University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). His major published books are New Exploration of News Theory, System of Journalism Theory Research in China, Contemporary Journalism Theory in China, The Ruling Party and the Mass Media, etc.; among which Contemporary Journalism Theory in China is listed into Graduate Teaching Books of the Ministry of Education after the evaluation of the Disciplinary Review Team of Academic Degree Committee; New Exploration of News Theory receives Outstanding Achievement Second Award by Philosophy and Social Sciences of Jiangsu Province, and The Ruling Party and the Mass Media Outstanding Achievement Award by Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education and Outstanding Achievement Second Award by Philosophy and Social Sciences of Jiangsu Province. There are more than 320 published essays and three major programs of National Philosophy and Social Science Foundation. The teaching achievement “Pay Attention to Practice Teaching and Cultivate High-quality Journalist Talents”, a research project presided over by Ding, is awarded the Grand Prize, Provincial First Prize and National Second Prize.
