Jiang Zanchu
Jiang Zanchu, male, the professor of archaeology in department of history in Nanjing University, was born in May, 1927 in Yixing, Jiangsu and his research interests are mainly on archaeology and history research. He was named as the one of the first famous scholars of social science in Jiangsu. The luminary of Heritage and Museum System since the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the state. Professor Jiang takes many roles like the member of Cultural Relics Management Committee in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, the senior archaeological experts and the honorary president of the Nanjing Historical Society. He was one of the major founders of archaeology in Nanjing University. Professor Jiang also worked as the member of National Philosophy and Social Sciences Research Group and State Board of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Group.
Professor Jiang graduated from Nanjing University in 1950 and then started teaching in Nanjing University. For half a century, he has organized many works in person of excavations and investigations of more than one thousand ruins and tombs of the Six Dynasties. In addition, Professor Jiang has published a series of academic articles about the history of Nanjing, which made great contributions to solving the many remaining problems about the history of Nanjing. The representative works include Historical Changes of Nanjing City, General Study of the Place Names in Nanjing, Ancient Capital of Ten Generations, Primitive Culture Distribution in Southeast China, Treatises on the Archaeology and History of the Middle & Lower Regions of Yangtze River and so on.
