Mao Jiaqi

Born in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province in 1927, Professor Mao Jiaqi graduated from Naning University in 1951.

Currently as an honored professor of Human and Social Science of Nanjing University, Mr. Mao has won the Lifelong Achievement Award of Nanjing University and the first Jiangsu Famous Experts of Social Sciences Award. Mr. Mao successively assumed the dean of the History Department of Nanjing University, the director of the Institute of Taiwan Studies of Nanjing University, the chairman of the Associations of the History of the “Taiping Tianguo”, the president of Jiangsu history society, the Committee member of the Human and Social Sciences of the National Ministry of Education, the special researcher of the Cross Strait Relations Research Center of the State Council, etc. During his 60-year-long history research career, Mr. Mao, adhering to historical rationality, and dedicating in propagating humanity, proposed an important opinion that thoughts mold history.

Professor Mao Jiaqi has published 24 books and more than 100 papers, which has brought great impact to the study of Chinese history in many domains, such as the history of the “Taiping Tianguo”, the history of the Late Qing Dynasty, the history of The Republic of China and the history of Contemporary Taiwan.
