Prof. Yang Xiaochun
Yang Xiaochun studied at Nanjing University for a BA in archaeology between 1992 and 1996, a MA in the history of Chinese ethnic minorities between 1996 and 1999, and a PhD in the history of ancient China between 2001 and 2004.
He worked as an assistant professor, instructor, and associate professor of ancient Chinese history in the Department of History at Nanjing University from 1999 through 2014. In the December of 2014 he was promoted the professor at Nanjing University. He visited University of Southern California as a scholar in residence from 2014 through 2016.
Prof. Yang’s main research fields are the history of the Yuan dynasty, the history of Chinese ethnic minorities, and ancient Chinese stone inscriptions. He published 6 books, such as Studies on Early Islamic Works in Chinese Language (Shanghai: Shanghai Ancient books Publishing House, 2011) and Studies on Islamic Literatures in Chinese Language in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties (Beijing: Zhonghua Publishing House, 2012), and more than 60 articles.
He is a member of the editorial boards of Studies on the Mongol-Yuan and China’s Bordering Area (2006- ) and a member of the council of the Chinese Association of the Yuan Studies (2012- ).
